#114: Pioneer Day Concert with Lindsey Stirling and Nathan Pacheco.

Hey ho! This weekend we celebrated my birthday. I am now officially an old man.
"Why are you so...old?" - Gru
The highlight of the birthday weekend was attending the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Pioneer Day Concert with guest stars Lindsey Stirling and Nathan Pacheco. For those who don't know, "Pioneer Day" is celebrated in Utah each July 24th to commemorate the arrival of the Mormon pioneers on July 24, 1847. It's a fun local holiday to honor the many sacrifices made by the pioneers (plus, I usually don't have to work!).

The concert was fantastic. You can watch the full concert at this link on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir official homepage or by watching the video below. I highly recommend it.
Link here one more time-just in case you missed it above.

I am a HUGE Lindsey Stirling fan (and by huge, I'm not only referring to the weight I have gained in my advancing age). I love Lindsey's whimsical style, her inspirational story of overcoming anorexia, and the fact that she can dance while playing the violin and never once poke herself in the eye. So far, Lindsey's youtube videos have had more than 300 million hits (including her smash hit "Crystalize", which was one of the top 10 videos of Youtube in 2012), and it is easy to see why. You can tell that she loves what she does. It was truly a treat to watch her perform.
Lindsey Stirling = Awesome
Equally great was the performance given by Nathan Pacheco. I had never heard of Nathan before the concert, but his voice was captivating. I'm not a big follower of opera, but his rendition of Nessun Dorma blew my socks off (if anyone finds them, please return them to me). Check out the full concert at the link above--you won't regret it!
